  • Woman Seeking Help for Swollen Lip

    Uzanyinzoga Suzan was born in 1959, she had a minor defect on her upper lip of her mouth. As she grew, the Lip also gradually increased in size.

    Today Uzanyinzoga says her lip has grown so big such that it covers her lower lip and part of her face is swollen.

    She is a mother of four children resident at Musongati village , Nyarusange sector in Muhanga district.

    For the past years she checked in at Nyarusange health center in her district but she was not given any attention.

    Uzanyinzoga says that some good samaritans once brought her to Kigali to seek treatment at the central Hospital CHK.

    However, she was advised to return home promising her that CHK would send her medicine to Nyarusange hospital but she has never recieved any such medicine.

    She says that these days whenever she tries doing work she gets headache and sometimes gets dizzy.

    Uzanyinzoga is seeking help to find a house to stay in with her children.

  • Agahozo Shalom Contributes Frw8Million to Agaciro Fund

    The Director of Agahozo shalom youth village together with the school Staff, handed a check of Frw8.505.000 Million to Governor of the Eastern Province as contribution to Agaciro Development Fund.

    The Director of Agahozo Shalom Youth Village Nkurikiyimfura Jean Claude said that Frw8million is contribution from the students, teachers and different employees at the school to support Agaciro Development Fund.

    The Governor of the Eastern Province Uwamariya Odette praised Agahozo shalom school for the good will in the development of the Country.

    The Governor reminded them that thhe contributing to Agaciro Development Fund is an individual commitment.

    The Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village (ASYV) is a residential community in rural Rwanda.Situated in Rubona Sector, Rwamagana District, Agohozo Shalom youth Village is 144 acres are home to youth who were orphaned during and after the genocide in 1994.

    The Village is designed to care for, protect and nurture these young people.

  • Charcoal Truck Overturns

    A truck carrying charcoal has overturned near Kigali central prison. The truck failed to break. The incident occured at about 10:00 AM.

    The driver of the truck (Reg RAB 273B) was rushed to CHK hospital. Others managed to jumpout of the truck escaping unhurt.

    However, the drivers identity wouldnt be established because the crowd had already pickpocketed him.

  • Uganda Starts New Education Program

    Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni has launched a new education programme –‘Skilling Uganda’ meant to introduce short courses for school leavers at Primary Seven, Senior Four and Six, school dropouts and graduates.

    The Programme gives learners an opportunity to go through a parallel education programme to that of formal education, meaning learners under ‘Skilling Uganda’ can also be awarded certificates, diplomas, or bachelors’ and masters’ degrees.

    One can become a mechanic, agriculturalist, florist, fashion designer, machinist, architect, chef, veterinerian, soil scientist or a technician without necessarily going through the formal education system.

    Learners will be assessed on what they can do, other than what they can recall as it is for most examinations under formal education.

    These courses will lead to the award of certificates recognised by the Uganda Government and other countries.

    The move is aimed at making sure that most Ugandans attain skills meant for the country’s development

  • Gorillas Rescued From Traffickers

    DRCongo wildlife authorities have rescued two baby gorillas from traffickers.

    The rescued gorillas are being protected by the Dian Fossey Fund awaiting transfer to the Gorilla Rehabilitation and Conservation Education (GRACE) centre in the DRC’s North Kivu.

    Clare Richardson president and CEO of Fossey Fund noted, “We are committed to saving gorillas in Congo in every way, primarily by supporting law enforcement in combating poaching and monitoring of gorillas the way we have done for 45 years with mountain gorillas in Rwanda.”

    “We have been caring for confiscated gorillas in temporary facilities since 2003, and the continuing problem of gorilla trafficking in this region requires us to focus both on prevention and on making plans for their future,” Richardson added.

  • Police Officers Undergo Airport Security Training

    Twenty police officers on October 2 began a 16-day training on Civil Aviation at Rwanda National Police headquarters in Kacyiru.

    The civil aviation training is conducted by Rwanda National Police in conjunction with which Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority (RCAA).

    The training which is the first of its kind is focused at enabling airport unit officers to acquire knowledge in screening and searching of passengers and baggage, a feat which will contribute to the improvement of security at Kigali International Airport.

    During the sixteen-day training, participants will be educated on the different restricted articles including weapons, explosives as well as incendiary devices.
