Son to Rwanda Senate President Stabbed in Stomarch

The son of Rwanda’s senate president is reportedly under intensive care in critical condition at a hospital in Belgium.

Unknown people attacked and stabbed him in the stomarch severely injuring his intestines.

Roger Ntawukuriryayo was on his way to The United States to resume studies after a two months holiday.

Dr. Jean Damascene Ntawukuriryayo, the president of Rwanda senate, told IGIHE that his son flew out of Rwanda on August 23 enroute to U.S where he is a university student.

He said his son had to make a stop over in Belgium to pick some documents before he would continue to U.S. Roger completed his college education in Belgium.

Roger Ntawukiriryayo was reportedly walking with his two Rwandan friends and one Congolese friend.

They encountered a group of other people numbering about eight; He was later stabbed in the stomach and severely injured. He was rushed to hospital.

The attackers have not been identified and the motive of the attack hasn’t been established.

“Investigations are being conducted,” its possible the attack could be related to the recent attacks against Rwandan citizens by Congolese nationals in Belgium,” Dr. Ntawukuriryayo told IGIHE.

IGIHE correspondent in Belgium said the Rwandan Embassy in Belgium is also making investigations into the matter.

It is said the hospital where Roger Ntawukuriryayo is being hospitalized is heavily guarded by Police making it very difficult to access.
