The East African Communications Organization (EACO) a regional public and private partnership organization, two years ago established a permanent Secretariat in Rwanda now the headquarters of the organization.
EACO brings together National ICT Regulators, Operators and Service Providers in the communications sector in the five Member States of the East African Community (EAC) namely Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
September 21, the Honorable Prime Minister of the Republic of Rwanda will officiated at the inauguration of the EACO Secretariat at its headquarters on Ex-Fair House, Kiyovu and Serena Hotel.
The Ministers in charge of ICT and those in charge of East African Community Affairs in all the five member countries of EAC, development partners, members of EACO attended this ceremony.
EACO promotes cooperation and development of the communication sector in the five East African countries. But the specific objectives of EACO are: To harmonize ICT policy and regulatory frameworks in the East African region, To promote the development of broadcasting, postal and telecommunication /ICT services in the region.
And To ensure provision of fast, reliable, secure, affordable and efficient communication services within the East African region.
